How can I learn about football, both college and NFL?

Generally, I'm not a big sports fan. Alot of my friends watch football, but I never got into it because I don't understand the game. How can I learn the game, so I can become more involved?

How can I learn about football, bothcollegeand NFL?knicks

search on the internet forcollegefoot ball and read about or just watch the games and stuff that comes on tv. You can also just ask your friends.

How can I learn about football, bothcollegeand NFL?sports ,nba teams

Watch the games and read the book. I started to watch football 1997 and love it now.
Definitely watch the draft coming up in a few months, as well as the Super Bowl. These are the two main events ever created in modern footballdom. Once you see these, the basics have been covered. Who Dey!!!
read up!
I am from Australia and i live football(Gridiron).

you need a rule book, read it until you understand the rules, then get on the net and review the seasons stats @www.nfl.com

Play some madden2006 on console and buy both the pro football andcollegefootball annual previews and watch the draft.

This should make you understand the game and the players!
go to nfl.com or go to google it
Sit down next to somebody that knows the game well and watch a game. Never stop asking questions. Keep watching and watching. Then go out and play it a bit. You'll never learn without experiencing it. You have to experience it to know exactly why they do some of the things they do.
Watch it on TV...you don't have to watch every game...but as long as you watch it once in a while you will catch on. Also, you can find someone who knows a lot about it and ask them.
Subscribe to Sports Illustrated, read columns online on si.com, sportsline.com, and espn.com, and watch ESPN an hour a day. That's not to mention watching as many games as you can find on TV, and reading your favorite newspaper's national sports section.

cary elwes because i think he is the funniest actor ever to play peyton manning because he is my fav. player ever

Do you think the nfl needs to put restrictions on its players?

The whole PacMan situation and Tank johnson where they were caught with weapons or their "friends" were caught with weapons or doing illegal activity. And recently with the whole Sean Taylor incident which i completely understand he wanted to be with his family during a time where there might of been threats or something going on with his house..but i think he should of just taken his family to one of the redskins facilitys and i am sure snyder would of taken care of them...and then with charels grant at some club. what are your feelings about this?

Do you think the nfl needs to put restrictions on its players?college football

The NFL should put clauses in players contracts that if they do illegal activity that they get suspended or lose money. Well you have to keep in mind that whether they like it or not these are million dollar athletes! And they need to have higher security levels and body guards...i guess they have too much pride. Its sad seeing these players get killed and harmed, when it could easily be avoided.

Do you think the nfl needs to put restrictions on its players?nba.com ,nba teams

Bunch of hoodlum gang bangers
no, the teams sponsors need to call the team and say we will not support you if you have those type of players on your team.

They should allow teams to have sponsors logos on their uniforms, then they would care more about who is wearing their symbol, and teams would be more selective.

Who is the smallest Defensive End in the NFL? What is the average size for a D End?

who is the smallest D End in the NFL..? What is the average Size for a D End?

Who is the smallest Defensive End in the NFL? What is the average size for a D End?hockey

im not positive i think dwight freeney from indy is the smallest and as you can tell it doesnt stop him from making plays even though he may be going against an offensive lineman that outweighs him by 100 lbs

http://www.nfl.com/players/dwightfreeney...

Who is the smallest Defensive End in the NFL? What is the average size for a D End?nba street v3 ,nba teams

Elvis Dumervile is one of if not the smallest DE in the league. He's shaping up to be a pretty darn good player.

http://www.nfl.com/players/elvisdumervil...
The smallest weight for a DE I know of is Mathis from Indy around 245. Bennett from the Buccs is also 245. Average I would guess, in 4-3 defenses, is 265. In 3-4 it would be more like 285.

Freeney is 268, Dummerville is 260.
Elvis Dumerevil (Can't spell today) He's like 5'11 and i think the average is like 6'5

Does anyone else think that Mike Vick form the NFL should have done to him what he did to those dogs

I think if someone kills a dog, cat, or any other pet they should also die. Some may think I鈥檓 taking things a little to far but i believe a person who could commit such a crime (killing dogs by shocking them, hanging them, and drowning them when nothing else worked b/c he did not win a bet) should be punished the same way鈥eath.

Does anyone agree?

Does anyone else think that Mike Vick form the NFL should have done to him what he did to those dogs?nba finals

A life is a life and he should suffer the same thing that he inflicted on another living thing.

Does anyone else think that Mike Vick form the NFL should have done to him what he did to those dogs?college football ,nba teams

maybe he should be stoned to death. Report It

Wat are u a fuckn idiot? A human life is equal to a dogs. I love dogs, but theyre not people. Go fuckn join peta and stop eating meat u raving lunatics, ull fit rite in with the rest of those fuckn wookies. Report It

What he did was horrible, but you can't compare a human life to an animal. By saying "A life is a life %26amp; he should suffer the same thing that he inflicted on another living thing." you're saying that if you swat a fly you should be swatted to death as well? A fly is a living thing. Report It

you say u believe in dealth penalty for someone who kills another person. well whoever gives the shot is just as guilty as the first person, taken a life is taking a life Report It

get real u losers, they were olnly dogs for christs sake Report It

NO, But a Lifetime Ban from the NFL would make more sense.
No, jail time is fine with me. Just because he did something horrible doesn't mean we have to stoop down to his level.
Human life=dog life? get a grip on reality

so everyone that eats a burger or a pork chop should die to?
no i don't agree u crazy so what do thin k of our president invading and killing all those in irak?
maybe you should move to Saudi Arabia or something, that is kind of how their legal system works, but here in America we barely even kill murderers much less some one who kills a worthless mutt
i would have to disagree with you. I dont think he should die. But he should get punished to the full extent because he is famous. everyone knows who he is. Kids look up to him. wtf kind of example is he setting for them by dog fighting. god damn. not only did he kill innocent animals but he also corrupted the minds of americans children. thats F******* MESSED UP. He should like have to fight someone to the brink of death and see if he likes it. he is disgusting and creul and he will burn in hell when his time comes. :)
NO! I am an animal lover, but animals are not people! He needs to ride the prison bench for a while, and no more NFL. We should NOT torture him him or anything like that. You are as bad as he is!
Killing him is a little excessive, but I still think he should get alot of jail time. He should never have hurt those poor dogs in the way he did. He shouldn't have hurt them at all. It's not their fault they fell into the wrong hands.

I also heard on the news earlier that "bodyslammed" a few until they died.

They've also said that the dogs that are left are scheduled to be "put down" soon.

That, I'm sure, will not happen.

Anyway,

I agree with you for the most part:)
Maybe not die, but a warning should go out to all women, when they see a man being violent or brutal to an animal, they can expect to be knocked around and have their children suffer from abuse too.

Women need to let men know they reject this behavior and want real men that are psychologically sound and not cruel.
excessive I think.

An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind-Gandhi
I glad your not a judge. You probably give me the death penalty for accidentally running over a squirrel or a dog.
Do you believe in the death penalty for people who murder other humans?

What he did was wrong, but I wouldn't say that he's worse than or even as bad as murderers. Think your solution is a little much. Again, I think what he did was wrong, but you also got to remember that he wasn't the only one involved, so it's not like he personally killed every dog there. Doesn't make what he did any better, just don't forget that he wasn't the only one involved here.
Yes, I agree. He is just a worthless bum, and has no feeling for animal life. He should be put to death. The world would be a better place without him.

What's the worst play you've ever seen in an NFL or college game?

I'll give you an obscure one:

At a University of Colorado football game a few years back, our punter absolutely SHANKED a kick nearly straight at the moon. It finally came down about 8 yards past the line of scrimmage and took a monster hop backwards. The punter ran up and touched the ball to prevent it from losing more yards. Thus, the punter actually DOWNED HIS OWN PUNT!! I've watched a lot of football and never seen it before or since. Now that is sucktitude.

What's the worst play you've ever seen in an NFL orcollegegame?nba trade

Has to be the Jim Marshall wrong way run to his own end zone after recovering a fumble followed by throwing the ball in the stands for a safety.

What's the worst play you've ever seen in an NFL orcollegegame?nba season ,nba teams

I'd say the Bill Gramatica field goal celebration where he rode a unicycle into a drum of gasoline, causing an explosion that burned 85% of his body.
...the most recent one i can think of is the denver broncos special teams...specifically the punter laying on his back and flailing as devin hester sped by...classic
pros: back in the day the giants had the ball deep in their end of the field, the lead, and about six seconds left on the clock. they were playing the eagles, and instead of taking a knee, they decided to run larry cszonka(?) up the middle. FUMBLE! herm edwards who was a safety at that time for the eagles scooped up the ball and ran into the end zone for a eagles victory.

college: the time that TCU player, (also back in the day), came off the sidelines to tackle a runner headed for the end zone. that is the funniest thing i've ever seen in a game. the runner was going down the sidelines with nothing between him and the goal line. then out of nowhere this player on the sidelines jumps out and tackles him. (ref's awarded the touchdown)
Aaron Brooks "passing" the ball backwards after escaping a sack.
In the super bowl when Ben was down like a yard before the Nzone and they called it a TD.
Running the wrong way in the Rose Bowl is pretty dumb I forget his name though.Jim Marshall also did it with the Vikings
When I was 4 years old, I saw a dog named "Sue," she was a beautiful dog, and I was a beautiful Jew. We lived in a house so big, and every morning we would dig, for the treasure we craved, until Sue went to her grave. I never found that treasure, but now I dance for pleasure.

Will there ever be another good asain player in the NFL?

There was a linebacker for the Cowboys a few years ago that was of an asian descent.
polamalu is polynesian and i remember a guy named dat nguyen whose asian but there are not too many

Timmy Chang???
idk but just like in the replacements, sumo wrestlers wold be the best offensive line ever.
Years ago the Rams had a starting quarterback by the name of Roman Gabriel who was Filipino.
being asian myself it's rare to see any over 5'7" anyone lower than that can't survive in the nfl. but i'm pretty sure in the coming years there will be some.
u mean hes samoan

Who do you think will make the biggest turnaround in the NFL?

I am thinking more along the lines of teams, but if there is a player that you think might have a real turn around season too, that will work as well.

Who do you think will make the biggest turnaround in the NFL?nba news

Positive turnaround?

St. Louis.

Weak schedule.

49ers wouldn't count as a "turnaround this year" - they're having a multi-year turn-around -- they're already good, they haven't stunk for 2 years. They may make the playoffs.

Unlike the Giants or the Cowboys.....

Also, I really don't see N.O. doing better than 10-6, more likely 9-7 - - - lot of parity this year in the NFC....

Mike how can you say Philly, they made the playoffs last year - how would a good year this year be a "turnaround" - - - ?

Who do you think will make the biggest turnaround in the NFL?nba all star game ,nba teams

The Texans. Matt Schaub is gonna be a star... Also the Lions could improve if their defense holds up.
I think that the Falcons are gonna have a good season this year. It will be funny as hell if Harrington can pull that team out when Vick couldn't.

My early pick "was" the Raiders, but that was before Moss got traded away and assuming Russell would hurry up and sign, but we all know how that turned out.
raiders
raiders
im thinkin either the browns or dolphins because they have both done tremendous thing during the off season to improve their team and i believe theyve don the right things
lions all the way
Hopefully the Bucs!
the MIAMI DOLPHINS!
49ers, what a great off season they had. And if you want a player, Vernon Davis.

PS: truthisback, last year STL was 8-8 and SF was 7-9.
The redskins.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS FTW!! and the player would be...ALEX SMITH FTW.
Raiders, hands down. As a Steelers fan it pains me to say it, but Oakland should be 8-8 or better this year. Defense wins championships and they have a title worthy D, if the offense can put up 14 pts a game, they may get a wildcard if somebody falters.
The Cardinals and the Texans.
I think the Redskins will have an awesome season!!!
Cadillac Williams. He had a down season last year, but with upgrades to the offensive line, and better wide receivers, and a much better quarterback in Jeff Garcia, Cadillac will have a 1200 yard season this year. The Bucs are my team with the biggest turnaround this year.
Detroit Lions.. they will be in the playoffs this year
E-A-G-L-E-S
By far the Lions. I'm saying they'll go 11-5.
It is going to have to be Carolina and Jake D. It he doesn't fix the problem he'll be looking for a team next year.

Can u run the 40 in 9 seconds and make it to the NFL? if not tell rogerc sumtin?

Can u run the 40 in 9 seconds and make it to the NFL? if not tell rogerc sumtin?nba.com

Hahaha no you can't. a 5 year old kid can run a 40 yard dash in about 9 seconds and you think that is good enough?? hahahahaha man thats funny. It depends on what position you play

For QB anywhere around the 5 area is good

For RB anywhere from 4.3-4.6

For WR is probably same

TE anywhere 4.5-4.8 or 4.9

Linemen anywhere in the 5.5-5.7

D line is same maybe a little faster for D ends

LB anywhere from 4.5-4.7 or 4.8

CB anywhere from 4.3-4.4 (couldnt imagine a CB with less than that)

and S 4.4 - 4.6

Maybe you can be a kicker or a punter and run a 9 second dash, but still if you can't run a 40 yard dash in 6 seconds than you wont make it bottom line. (because you have no athletic ability.

no to answer your question.

The general rule is most players can run sub 5 second 40s. Their are exceptions but most linemen can run a 40 in the 4.8 to 4.9 range.
I can run it in 4.5 seconds and I'm not in the NFL...

Are there any virgins playing in the NFL?

Out of all of the professional sports, I would like to think the NFL has the least amount of virgins. What do you think?

Are there any virgins playing in the NFL?nba

It's not something listed in a player's stats, and it really has nothing to do with their performance. I'd have to say it's none of my business, and it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I'd think virgins would be better players - all of that pent up energy.

Are there any virgins playing in the NFL?nhl ,nba teams

I don't think it's any different than the general population. Why would you like to think that when it's the biggest sign of masculinity there is for an unmarried man?
I would think so, there are many people who are and football doesnt change that, even though you are more likely not to be one in sports though.
what the *****? are you gay you queer little ************* ****? why dont you just return to your perferred cock you ******* cockyass slapdick ******
I doubt it!

Do the Patriots have the worst fans in the NFL?

They are pathetic morons, and the only way they can retort is to insult people. 90% of them will jump off the bandwagon as soon as the Jags beat them. In fact, most will start rooting for the Jags if they lose. When the Pats start losing the seats will be empty. I just think the Pats fans show NO CLASS at all!

Do the Patriots have the worst fans in the NFL?nba history

Patriots fans are not obnoxious.. they have EVERYTHING to brag about because they live in New England which is having one of its best sports years ever with the Red Sox winning the World Series, the Celtics reborn as a championship contender, and the undefeated Patriots. You are the one insulting people. Patriots fans don't insult people, they just shove the facts in people's faces, and people get insulted because their team is nothing compared to the Pats! If the Patriots lose to the Jags, their fans would stick with them like any other team. Are you saying that you wouldn't be rooting for your team if they just went UNDEFEATED in the season and could go down as the best football team in history? Fans might not like the "spygate" incident, but its just the fact that the Patriots got caught. Every team in the NFL does it, and if you think about it, the Patriots had to go through the rest of the season without doing it, which shows just how phenomenal they are. The Patriots have much more class than most people out there, including you. Wow...

Do the Patriots have the worst fans in the NFL?nba trade ,nba teams

Always a playa hater out there. As a NE fan and resident I must say that it is becoming more bandwagon to be a hater than a fan. I realize it is hard to see your team lose and ours win for so many years. Pats fans are great and are the ones who can sympathize and give you hope. We have gone through some serious horrid seasons...decades worth. Why is it wrong for us to be psyched now. If anything it should give you hope that your team can do a 180 too. Owner Bob Craft has done a terrific job building a team that can withstand the era of free agency. Yes, this year our team is stacked. But in previous years we won on pure will and great coaching. The "spygate" will forever haunt us, but we are not the only team that does it. The tattle telling Jets even do it. The Patriots have more class than several teams in the NFL and Belichik wouldn't stand for anything else. Our run has been great and I hope it to continue, but your team's day in the sun won't be far off either. Enjoy the games this weekend. If it means anything, the Jags were the last team I wanted to Pats to face. They are dangerous and unpredictable. Nothing to lose baby!
You poor thing. Are you a Jets fan? The Patriots are America's team, they even named a law after them, it's called the Patriot Act. The Patriots represent America. They have the most fans, and they are the class of the NFL, and so are their fans.
It's always the same with a franchise that wins a lot more than the others. The fans become spoiled, obnoxious and really need to be put through a couple 1-15 or 2-14 seasons to give them some perspective. It's like that with the Pats, the Yankees, the old Cowboys, the old Lakers and Jordan's Bulls.

Then, there are the Bengals fans. Sigh.
hey thats just football section

last year the bears and colts had worst fans. it sucks.

GO Eagles and Jaguars
I always thought that Philly had the worst fans.
If you want to see a pathetic, classless moron.... look in the mirror...

Get a life...
I've heard the Raiders have the worst fans.
every year the team that does real well has the most annoying fans. if pats were an average team, like jacksonville, their fans wouldnt stand out, like jacksonvilles dont, and they wouldnt bother you so much. if pats take down turn soon and cowboys start to own nfl again their fans will be the worst. if colts repeat this year, trust me, their fans will be the worst. its all about whos on top. all you patriots haters seem to know two words only: class, cheat. i mean if your precious jaguars were 16-0 would you really care if some girl said they have no class? try something new. why do you care anyway?
first of all, it is YOU who is being a pathetic moron by insulting people who you don't even know. grow up, you should be ashamed of yourself. second, there are moron fans on EVERY team and if you don't know that, then i feel extremely sad for you. third, most Pats fans have been on the "bandwagon" since 2001. it is the Jaguars who have all the bandwagon fans. seriously, i remember last year there were absolutely ZERO Jaguars fans on Yahoo. a Jags fan accusing others for being bandwagon fans... what a joke! get a clue
I would have to say Philly and Pittsburgh. I don't know what it is but fromcollegeon up PA has some of the worst fans ever. There fine if you agree with theme but disagree and suffer the wrath. On a side note all of you who think your team has the best fans, put on your rivals gear and go to a game and see what your fans are really like.
I would normally be insulted but I am too happy over the 16-0 season and the chance to win a 4th superbowl so have a nice day.
No No No....

swirlie was right.

The Cowboys have the worst fans.
ha ha ha!

I love your honesty! I hope the Jags win =)
Thank-you for such a Classy post!! Bunching everyone together and Calling them Pathetic morons is not in insult??? Classy people never tell others, they don't have class they just know it.
NO... by saying this you make yourself a bad fan. Ok... the Pats have some annoying fans, ok? Who doesn't? The only reason they seem more annoying to you then anyone else is because they are winning on top of that. And I'll tell ya... the main reason some of them are so beligerent and annoying is because they have to constantly listen to people trash the Patriots... you would get angry and defensive too if it was your team. I'll give you a list of some worse fanbases...

The Raiders

The Eagles

The Colts

GO PATS! You start showing some class and maybe they will.
Im not a pats fan,but come on,just because you don't like them, the people that do are morons?the only one with "NO CLASS" is yourself.
Nah, that dubious honor belongs to the fans of the Detroit Lions.
Calling others a pathetic moron, sounds like you are the worst fan. If you want class I suggest you start going to the ballet, I think they are more concerned about class.
Can you just say "I hate the Pats" and be done with it. You haven't made a legitimate point or asked a legitimate question yet.
What are you talking about
The have had losing seasons over the past years and they havent had an empty seat since kraft took over the team.

The Jags havent had fans all year, this is the first we have seen them. They are right now having their one week of fame, it will be ended saturday night.
why are you insulting other people on this board? Grow up. And for your information, the Pats stadium started selling out LONG before they won a SuperBowl.
No, the Cowboys do.
they cheated and there are no real fans they all came about in 2001
I really feel bad for their true fans, I mean they have to hate these people robbing them of their pleasure. I mean it bothers me that people are riding the band wagon, but it isn't my wagon so I am sure it bothers them even more

What is the purpose of the green dot on the helmets of NFL quarterbacks this season?

Jeremy I am assuming that you just want to give away 10 points rather than search this exact same question. It marks the person wearing to wireless mic in his helmet. This question is asked at least 5 times a day for the last 3 weeks.

What is the purpose of the green dot on the helmets of NFL quarterbacks this season?www.nba

It is a cool new feature of Madden 08 which lets you control the QB from home with you Xbox 360 controller. I like to be Tom Brady....I make him fall down a lot.

I love Madden!

What is the purpose of the green dot on the helmets of NFL quarterbacks this season?nba players ,nba teams

Green dot on a helmet means that the helmet is equipped with a radio device for communication with the coach. No two helmets with the green dot can be on the field at the same time. Backup QBs sometimes holds the ball during a field goal. Last year a fake field goal was called during a game with the backup QB holding and he had the helmet with the communication device. Now, opposing teams andd refs can identify who is communicating with the coach.
It is to signal to referee which player is wired (QB's communication system)

I guess a team had 2 QBs on field at same time last year and both had wireless system. Somhow NFL thought it should change the rule

Heard Madden talk about it during Giants/Ravens preseason game

Which is better for fantasy football defense stats, pick a whole NFL team or individual players?

I understand this is more of an opinion question, just need some advice. I am also looking for people to fill out my league I just started, email me if interested.

Which is better for fantasy football defense stats, pick a whole NFL team or individual players?nba playoff

I think team defense is much better. It simplifies your draft, and it's a lot easier and more enjoyable every week to follow a team defense than it is an individual player. And some of the individual stats, like tackles, are so arbitrary that they rather cheapen your league's scoring system.

How do i join fatansy nfl football?

im a really big fan and really want to try out fatansy football but i dont know how. i want to start it before the next season. thanks guys.

How do i join fatansy nfl football?soccer

There are many sites that have free fantasy football. Some are espn, cbs, and i think yahoo also has one. But it is to early to join now.

How do i join fatansy nfl football?celtics ,nba teams

YOU CAN NOT PLAY FANTASY FOOTBALL TILL NEXT SEASON.
You sign up for Fantasy Football a little bit before the season starts. There's many sites including your very own Yahoo! but the most popular is probably NFL.com.
I'm not sure...

i've never heard of fatansy?
Well it starts during preseason. Go to NFL.com and go to fantasy. It will let you make an account. What you need to do as well is research. Look at player trends, watch trades, everything you can to absorb all the info you can. Points are awarded on a weekly basis (some rare leagues go yearly, but those aren't really fun). You need to order every position how you thing people will do. During the draft, draft the players you think will do the best (highest positions are RB, QB, and WR with some anomalies) Look at professional (sorry I got to laugh at this) drafts, on NFL.com or ESPN.com. They show roughly the order of the draft, how it will likely play out for you. You have no idea of knowing who will go where though, or your draft position. Don't play a keeper league to start, as it requires more work. Play normal FF for a year or 2. I can't really think of anything else to add... if you need any info email me.

And which teams are disappointments this season in terms of how bad they have been so far this season as well?

Which teams in the NFL are surprises in terms of how good they have been so far this season?nba champs

Good

Lions

Bills

Chiefs

Bucs

Texans

I forgot about the Browns

Bad

Every team in the NFC West

Jets

Chargers

Broncos

Bears

Eagles

Ravens

Which teams in the NFL are surprises in terms of how good they have been so far this season?basketball shoes ,nba teams

Ooh you could also throw the Green bay Packers in the mix as a good surprise as well for the same reasons as the Titans. Report It

As a Packer fan, they are surprising me every week. I didn't expect them to do this well. Next is the Lions. They are playing great and I can't wait till we play the Lions then the Cowboys the following week. This will tell everyone how good the Pack are or aren't.
The two good surprises that come to mind right off is Detroit and Cleveland.

The other end of the spectrum is New Orleans, which is turning it around in a big way now, and then there is St. Louis and San Fran. St. Louis due to injuries, I think is the primary reason, and with the 49ers I think the loss of Norv Turner and a couple of key injuries hurt them. I don't think much of Norv as a head coach (Chargers surprisingly bad), but as an offensive coordinator, I think he is one of the best in the game today.
browns lion and packers
The Lions , Browns are big surprises and the biggest disappointments are the Dolphins , Jets and Rams and Bengals and Broncos
The Detroit Lions are full of joy this year and the Miami Dolphins stink.
Surprise- Lions, Browns

Disappointment- Chargers, Rams
Ok the biggest shocker has to be the Browns cause i didnt even think they would win more than 5 games and they are about to do it (not this week though GO STEELERS lol). And the biggest disappointment is right now the Chargers cause they have all the talent on that team and cant do anything (all cause of Norv Turner). I would have said the Saints a few weeks ago but they are finally getting their **** together lol.
Browns

Packers
the team that has surprised me the most so far this season is the detroit lions.
lions are a surprise, chargers are a disappointment, along with the bears and eagles. as a bears fan i hoped they would be good, but then they named rex starting quarterback and i cried.
Up - Browns

Down - Bengals

the 2 Ohio teams records were switched in most folks prognostications.
surprises- Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Detriot

Disappiontments- San Diego, St Louis, San Fransico, Denver
Green Bay has to be the biggest surprise and San Diego would be the biggest diappointment.
the lions and rams both suprised me. lions are very good and the rams just arent what everyone expected.
The Browns.

DONT MESS WITH THE POUND!!!!!!!!!
I'm surprised with Detroit, Tennessee and Buffalo but that might just be me...
teams i am impressed with

Lions

Packers

teams i thought would be doing better

Saints

Dolphins

Seahawks

Rams

Titans

I am impressed with the lions and packers because for a while they wernt doing well but now there really good. and i am also a pats fan Go Pats!!!

Do you think the money from NFL TV contracts affects our economy?

I know the NFL has the right to get the most money from the TV networks (FOX, CBS, NBC, ESPN, etc). but IMO its a vicious cycle that raises costs to us consumers and contributes to our dying economy.

its a simple evil formula:

1-NFL gets more billions from the TV deals

2-TV networks charge more millions for their commercial space

3-advertisers raise the prices of their products to pay for the commercials

4-so we football fans pay more for cars, cokes, beers, and erecticle dsyfunction pills!

I personally want football fans to demand some kinda CAP on the NFL TV contracts.

Do you think the money from NFL TV contracts affects our economy?nba sports

I find the whole system of media advertising absurd, but it must work to some degree or they wouldn't do it.

I've given up on the NFL. I support my local high school teams. Good seats cost next to nothing.

What NFL team do you never see winning a Super Bowl in our lifetime?

I honestly would have to say the Falcons.

What NFL team do you never see winning a Super Bowl in our lifetime?nba records

Unless we are all going to die in the next couple years, any team is capable of winning the superbowl. In the 60's, the worst team in the history of the NFL was the Steelers, then they went on to win 4 superbowls in the 70s. The 49ers were terrible in the 70s, only to become the team of the 80s. The rams went from the worst record in the NFL to superbowl champs in one year in the late 90s.

If I had to pick one team, it's the cardinals, because I never remember them being a good team in my lifetime.

What NFL team do you never see winning a Super Bowl in our lifetime?nba championships ,nba teams

If this list is from this year forward...the 9ers. I strongly believe John York is one of the worst owners in the NFL, and given that he's refused to entertain any offers for the team because he wants to "give it to his son", I don't think the 9ers are going to win a Super Bowl until they are in better hands. If not...the Falcons also have terrible ownership, as do the Lions, so those are the other two teams I'd put on the list.

Al Davis is another terrible owner that I don't think will win another Super Bowl, but given that he looks like death already...I think I'll live to see the Raiders win one after he's gone.
the saints.. i truly believe this team is destined to never win a super bowl.. they only had 1 playoff win until their run to the nfc title game 2 years ago.. they can never sustain any success that they accomplish from year to year.. like the year after that run they went 7-9 and started out 0-4.. their is no consistency year to year which is a must for a super bowl run..
The Arizona Cardinals.

They have a track record of medocrity almost unparalleled in the modern era.

To be fair, they did win an NFL championship in 1925, but that was before the Bidwell clan brought their special brand of pathetic to the team.
I agree, the Falcons have got to be the worst managed team in the NFL. The Lions are almost as bad.

Any team STUPID enough to let Brett Favre get away to Green Bay, is forever a JOKE!!!

Look at what they've blown in the way of QB choices, %26amp; draft picks!!!! How much money they threw at a mediocre QB(Vick), who is now in jail. It ALL boils down to poor management!

For the RETARDS who said 49ers, THEY have already won 5, and have NEVER lost any! No other team can say that!
The Texans. I live near Houston, and McNair is a closet control freak. I expect Gary Kubiak to be fired at the end of this season, and another coach will step in to be told what to do.
I disagree with the Falcons. They fianlly have an owner who cares and wants to win. I think they need time.

I would say the Lions, Cardinals, Bengals, Bills (You said win), Texans and Chargers
I don't know about the Falcons. They are in the process of building a new team.

I don't think Cardinals and the Lions will win in our lifetime.
Ok why is everyone saying the 9ers? Theyve already won 5..

Personally id love to see the eagles never win one... but I think eventually their time wil come... but I think the Cards are destined to be Lombardi-less
saints! I think the falcons will get acouple draft picks that might be able to help them in the future. I think the saints organization is just helpless...
I am absolutely sure that the Cincinnati Bengals will never win a Super Bowl.
I so agree that falcons will never win in my lifetime and also the texans
Arizona Cardinals
Texans.
Texans.
Falcons have a higher chance then the Lions.
Houston
Seahawks
Raiders
The Falcons, I agree.
The Eagles
The 49ers.
The Saints
Detroit Lions
detroit lions
Man of the hour I agree either them or cleveland.
im gonna say the st. louis rams. they need some major help with their cornerbacks
Falcons, Cardinals, Lions, Texans, Browns, Bengals, Vikings, 49ers, Bucs, Dolphins, Jets, Raiders, Chiefs, Bears, Panthers.

Why do the "chain gangs" in the NFL switch sidelines in the second half?

I noticed this at two Tennessee Titans games this season. In the first half of the game, the official measurement chains were on the visitors sideline, and in the second half, the chains were on the home sideline. Why do they swap at halftime?

Why do the "chain gangs" in the NFL switch sidelines in the second half?nba mock draft

Actually it is the same reason they change end zones. They change end zones to eliminate any unfair advantage, but since the chain gang does not provide any advantage, it is for the convenience of the teams. This way the chains will always be on the same side relative to the teams on the field. The chains start on the side OPPOSITE the press box.

Does anyone know how you are able to become a NFL referee?

Also would their be special requirements to become one, and do you know how much they get paid on average?

Does anyone know how you are able to become a NFL referee?sports tickets

First, fail an eye test. %26lt;g%26gt;

I'm not sure what requirements you would consider to be "special," but this much I know:

1) You must be willing to travel and be available weekends and occasional Mondays and Thursdays.

2) You need to be in reasonably good shape -- not playing shape, but you do have to be able to run up and down the field for three hours or more.

3) You should be willing and able to work in rain, snow, or extreme temperatures.

4) You should have very thick skin.

5) Must be able to orally distinguish between the words "heads" and "tails."

6) Unless you are independently wealthy or have married well, you will need another source of income, as the NFL does NOT hire full-time referees.

Your best bet for information on how to become a referee is to contact the NFL directly. Then get a copy of the official rulebook and study, study, study. When you're done studying, study some more.

Who is the most over rated active QB in the NFL?

My vote goes for Vick. What has he actually done? Sure, he can run. But he has not really accomplished all that much for as much hype as he gathers from some fans and media.

Who is the most over rated active QB in the NFL?nba salaries

You are 100% correct Mike Vick has a big name thats it, he should learn how to throw or just give up and become a wide reciever. After him there are a few more overrated QB's:

Eli Manning- 1st round bust cant make the big throws in the big games

Tony Romo- plays great for a few games and than flops when it counts

J.P. Losman- ENOUGH SAID

Who is the most over rated active QB in the NFL?nba playoff ,nba teams

Rex Grossman.

Everyone says he is a bum who should be riding the bench.

I say you are all giving him too much credit.

Let's get a restraining order making it illegal for this guy to come within 500 yards of Soldier Field.

He had to have bet money against the Bears in some of those games last year. Nobody could play that bad unless they were trying to screw up.
I agree. Micheal for sure.
How could anyone mention JP as overrated. They don't even mention him when they talk about his QB class and he's at least better than Worthlesberger and Eli. Rivers is debatable.

My vote goes to Vince Young. He's Mike Vick 2.0, and will be only that unless he learns to play QB. Honorary mention goes to Tony Romo for being elected to the Pro Bowl for playing three good games....
Vick hasn't been to the Super Bowl...He has been to the NFC Championship once...He's fun to watch, but can't win a Super Bowl on his own...
does anybody even rate Vick highly anymore?

I'll go with Roethlisberger

He won the Super Bowl because his offense was well coached.

Last year is how he rolls without spectacular play around him and average coaching.

2nd place....Eli Manning
I agree with you. It's gotta be Vick, all this hype and he's just not a great QB. Great athlete, but not QB. If he was paid an average salary and nobody made such a big deal about him, he'd be good to have. But he's a salary drain and a prima donna.
Way too much hype on Tony Romo just b/c he played good his first couple games but when it came down to a playoff game he blew it

Michael Vick would be close 2nd
Brady QUINN
Michael Vick

Eli Manning

Chad Pennington
the number one overrate QB is Eli stay off Vick he is a QB that every coach wants but can't coach. he can throw with time and open wrs. that's why his tight end gets all the pass he the only one open. he line is weak also. let it go. Eli got it all still can't win
Michael Vick by far. he has tons of talent and has done nothing. it's almost sad to think about what he could've become and now with all his off the field problems, it's like a train wreck. for his own sake i hope he proves me wrong this year.
Bret Farrve has my vote. I cnt watch a game if he plays. He just annoys me to no end. Either that or Peyton Manning. Its a toss up.
thats right its vick
I don't think its Vick--not that he's accomplished that much, more that the press didn't hype him as much last year. My vote is for Eli Manning. First, deciding that he was too good to be a Charger and getting a starting job got him in the spotlight and his older brother made him a media darling. The jury is still out--Eli could turn out to be a good quarterback, but at this point in his career he gets as much press as Peyton without even being in the top half of quarterbacks.

Vick--I think they need to get a football genius to re-write the playbooks around him. When I watch, it seems they just can't think outside the box and figure out what kind of plays would use his skills best. He doesn't have the skills to run normal quarterback plays, so you see his best stuff on a busted play. Even his planned runs look like any QB draw. What I'm saying is they need to quit trying to make him a traditional quarterback, and figure out better rollouts and runs to use him effectively. Someone needs to come up with a new way to play the position for Vick, and he could be great.
Peyton Manning. If he didn't have Dungy, Harrison, and Wayne, he would be bagging groceries and taking turns on the low side of the gloryhole for nickels.
Well no offense, but this was a waste of a question, because the clear answer thus far has been Mike Vick, without contest. He hasn't ever thrown for 3,000 yards....how can anyone be considered a legitimate 1st overall QB with those crappy passing numbers?
peyton manning and 2 years ago ben rolisburger (dont know if i spelled it right). when you really think about it peyton manning isn't that good all he does is throw a bunch of short passes i hardly ever see hime throw a pass past 25 yard why because he knows it will be off target
Vick. I don't care if he is "exciting" as a QB he isn't doing much because he doesn't have to. When he had to play QB, like against the Steelers last year, he did a fine job of it. Maybe he would be really good at QB if he had to be, if they would make him focus on pass first.

Next is Farve. He is living on his past. He isn't that great anymore so please stop this oh he has MVP awards and Ring. From what 5-10 years ago?
1) Mr. Favre 2) Mr. Vick 3) Mr. Culpepper 4) Mr. E. Manning 5) Mr. Romo These are my top Five for the top Ten just watch the Games this season they will show you the top Ten
Jake Delhomme
Mike Vick
i dont think it's Vick, although he is not very good, I think most people who know football realize that. Since the retirement of Drew Bledsoe, the overrated award has to go to Marc Bulger, even coming off his best seadon last year the Rams were still horrible. Honorable mention to Donovan Mcnabb.
At this point, Bret Favre is way overrated. Big Ben's ready to take the torch as soon as Bret hangs 'em up.
I agree totally. He isn't a very good QB, but he does create some excitement when running the ball. He never will be a winner, except in dog fighting maybe.
I would have to say

Philip Rivers it is jyust the team he has that makes him look good. He makes to gutsy of throws and does not do good under pressure. If nyou put him on any other team he would not last long.
Tony Romo. They were hyping this guy up before he even touched an NFL field in a meaningful game. And exactly what the hell has he done? Why was he a Pro Bowl QB? Dallas isn't buying the hype since they considered drafting Brady Queer. Roethlisberger was overrated, but last season, he was exposed for what he really was. Matt Schaub is overrated. You mentioned Michael Vick, well Schaub's career numbers (although in limited action) are WORSE than Vicks. His completion percentage is nearly the same, but his QB Rating is nearly 10 points less than Vicks. Schaub is expected to save a franchise with a line that can't save him from being put on his back more than a Houston harlot.
Is Dante Culpepper considered "active"?
Jake Delhome

Mike Vick
Roesthlisberger. The guy is average at best. They won a superbowl with him completing like 12 passes a game on average. He's a nobody...
Vick, perhaps - but he has taken his team to a SuperBowl.

How about Tony Romo - "the next Tom Brady"?

Pennington and Manning (Eli) are good choices too.

Tom Brady? He hasn't won a SuperBowl in three years...

Daunte Culpepper - without Moss, he's been nothing!

There are a ton of white "running backs," because many of the fullbacks in the NFL are white. I wondered this myself after watching LSU's Jacob Hester run this year, but he's so tough he'll probably be a fullback in the NFL too. Tailbacks, however, have almost exclusively been African-American for several decades.

As for "great," Mike Alstot was a perennial Pro Bowl player.

What are the salary averages for the NBA, MLB, and NFL?

I'm trying to find information on salary cap, starting salaries, and average salaries of 3 of the biggest sports in the U.S. Need sources as well. No answers off the top of your heads.

What are the salary averages for the NBA, MLB, and NFL?nba tickets

The average NBA player salary is $3.7 million; Kevin Garnett is the highest paid at $28 million this season.

The average salary shot up 9 percent this year to $2,699,292, according to final figures released Wednesday by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The increase was the highest since a 12.8 percent rise in 2001 and makes it likely the $3 million mark will be broken next year or in 2008.

Despite some de-emphasis of the position, quarterbacks still lead the NFL salary parade, with all quarterbacks averaging $1.713 million in compensation for 2001 and starters averaging $3.919 million. Here is a look at the averages, by position, according to NFL Players Association salary

What do you think of Leonard Little playing in the NFL and Michael Vick being blackballed?

What do you think of Leonard Little playing in the NFL and Michael Vick being blackballed?nba mock drafts

its awesome

What do you think of Leonard Little playing in the NFL and Michael Vick being blackballed?nba street ,nba teams

Better question is to ask is if Little did now what he did then, what would happen? The image of the pro athlete is under scrutiny, with good reason, much more now than ever before. I for one am very pleased that most of pro sports is FORCING these guys to act as stand up citizens. The powers that be understand that the people that pay to go to the games on a regular basis are getting fed up with watching steroid using ex-cons play a game for a living. I for one will never take my son to another NFL game after being around the drunken lunatics in the stands...that's another matter I guess.

If Little committed his crime last week, you better believe he would be gone this week. The greater crime is Little's, yes.

One more big piece of irony...Little's current team "blacklisted" Eric Wright (Cleveland Browns 2nd rd draft choice this year) because he had a silly misdemeanor charge as a freshman in college. It seems that when it comes to moral compasses in pro sports and the media, everyone is standing directly on the North Pole.
what is happening to Micheal Vick is nothing short of extreme..yes what he did was wrong but come on taking money from him and all this scrutiny is ridiculous..these same people who are calling for Vick to be hung are the same idiots who have excuses to why pit bulls kill or attack people everyday with no warning...and by the way he pleaded guilty to funding the fights not being part of the executions that is what he co-defendants are saying to get themselves lighter sentencing. Look at Paris Hilton and Lindsey lohan..they have committed crimes and it was pretty much kicked under the rug..though Paris offense was nowhere near as severe she took the law head on and won she did not get anywhere near as much jail time as she should have...and she showed no shame, when a person outright puts them self ahead of the law there should have been more of an outrage., for the simple fact that there are innocent people behind bars who dont get the same treatment...Vick situation has alot to do with race. Yes he committed a crime, let the justice system take care of ..
There's not a lot of justice in the world. One could say that Vick was acting maliciously while Little was not. It takes malice and a stone where one's heart ought to be to raise dogs to fight and main each other and to take part in "executing" underperforming dogs. It takes hubris and stupidity to get behind the wheel of a car with a BAC of 0.19.

I hope that the new NFL commissioner starts cracking down on players who have felony charges pending against them and have been convicted of felonies. And this includes men who have gotten away with abusing their wives and girlfriends for far too long.

If it takes publicity for a guy who financed a dogfighting ring to shed light on the ugly behavior of too many professional athletes, so be it.
The death that Little caused was not intentional. And yes he could have been punished a bit more. The deaths that Vick caused and did were. Yes, I know it was not human life that suffered from his hands. But it was a life, and he not only took those lives, he made them suffer. I am sure God will punish him for what he has done. As far as I am concerned he can be replaced with Barney and it would be an improvement.
It was the public that decided about Vick. When the story broke the public was where the real problem for Vick came from.

So you see it does seem that a dog has more value to the public. You are not the majority it seems.

I don not care one way or the other.
Vick sucks! Put him in a room full of his fighting dogs with meat around his neck. They need to make a football out of him!
Leonard Little was lucky that his offense happened when it did. Of course taking a human life is worse than that of a dog's, but all sports are under such scrutiny nowadays that Michael had poor timing.

On the other hand, Leonard did chose to drink and drive, but I highly doubt he did it with the intention of killing someone whereas, Michael and his posse purposely bought these dogs to fight each other and purposely killed them.

Both are wrong. Is Leonard lucky that he still gets to make more money than any of us will ever dream of? Damn right he is. Lance Briggs is sweatin to see if he'll be punished for a single vehicle accident where nobody was hurt and it can't be proven if he was drinking or not.

These atheletes are finally being held to a higher standard, which I feel is a good thing, but could be a whole other argument.

If Leonard committed the same act today, he would be getting the same reaction that Vick is getting and facing the fact that he would never be playing in the National Felon League again.
I have no idea how Leonard Little is even out of prison, much less playing football. Think about this: he KILLED a human being and spent 90 DAYS in jail. Then a few years later he fails THREE field sobriety tests, and the jury finds him not guilty because the officer supposedly didn't follow procedure. Bottom line: this country is crazy and the St. Louis justice system is basically a kangaroo court.
Yeah, Little has quite the drunken and murderous track record:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Lit...

I think he should have been punished more harshly. We do not know of the full punishment that Vick will receive. God says to take care of the domestic animals; Vick slaughtered helpless animals while training them to rip each other to shreds.

He is my brother, but am I his sister? Brotha man, wow, you didn't even need the cash---this was a case of evil on the part of Vick. Sheer evil. I hope he gets it together because he just loved doing it and only made about $3,000 to $4,000 on each dog fight? What's up with that.

Little should have gone to prison for murder.

Kevin Everett. Everett's injury is the closest I've ever seen to a player dying right out on the field.

Joe Montana didn't break his back. It was a ruptured disc (like many people have). However, the late Darryl Stingley suffered a spinal cord injury resulting in his being paralyzed for life, after being speared by Jack Tatum. This was the worst injury in modern times.

Darryl finally succumbed to complications of this injury last spring, after remaining active for 3 decades.

Now he's in Heaven running routes, and catching passes, with a healthy body.

May he rest in peace.

BTW: Tatum never expressed regret, and wore Darryl's injury as a badge of honor; another notch on his helmet.

While Joe Montana's injury might have been the worse of the two injuries. Watching Joe Theisman's leg break caused me to cringe more than any other injury I have ever witnessed.

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?

With the Giants and the Dolphins playing in London, at Wembley Stadium, I was wondering how the British feel about American Football. Do you enjoy watching/playing? Are there pubs which show American Football games? Do you have a favourite team? Is there a European Football (American) League? If so, how did today's Giants/Dolphins game compare to the matches you normally watch? How popular is American Football in Western Europe?

Thanks for your time. Cheers.

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?pro basketball

It's not very big here at all really. As someone said, NFL Europa shut down sometime earlier this year. I remember a team called the London Monarchs, which moved to Germany at the turn of the century.

I enjoy watching but nowhere near as much as I enjoy watching rugby. This is not a criticism in any way, but I'm not too keen on the focus on stats and the stop-start nature of play. As you'll probably be aware, rugby players are on the field for the entire game with the exception of substitutions.

The best thing about the game being held in London was being able to listen to the UK commentators... I think it's quite clear nobody here understands the game at all!

I'm quite happy playing Madden though! :)

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?nba history ,nba teams

i watched the game. it said that there were 90,000 people at the game. it was sold out. most people were dolphins fans. the anouncers mentioned that the english liked the aggresiveness of the game, but it looked like they were pretty bored because they were doing the wave a lot which was probably so they werent bored.
I watched the game and the crowd seemed to welcome or like football
The NFL Europe is history. At the end of last season they shut it down. To expensive. In Europe is American football not so popular. England and France have pretty good rugby teams.

Recently was the woldchampionchip in France - Southafrica won. Rugby is a much rougher sport than football. The English people like that more. But the number one game is soccer in Europe.
It seems a bit overcomplicated. I don't understand the game. I felt sorry for the American fans who couldn't watch their team that weekend because they'd come over to play across the Atlantic.
I went to London on vacation in 2001. I saw a couple of kids (middle school age) hanging out. I was talking to them about their football (soccer). I told them we have football also, and they said to me "You mean that long, brown ball." NFL Europe was still in play at the time, and you would never know it existed. The only american sports that I saw was New York Yankees and Chicago Bulls shirts.
I've met some people who enjoy it, but most of us hate it, for the embarrassing non sport that it is.
Sorry, it's a minority interest here. Soccer is the game everyone watches here (yawn). I don't watch sport, personally.

How much would a ticket cost me for a top NFL game?

I watch Spurs football (soccer) team every fornight. Even know I'm still very aware of hooliganism, gangs, organised fights, etc, between teams. I was wondering if any American Football (football) teams have the same problams.

How much would a ticket cost me for a top NFL game?nba mock draft

First, a tick to a game in the US will usually start at about $65 American. That's for seats either really high up or in the back of the endzone where you can't see anything. Good seats start around $85 American. This however tends to change based on where you buy your ticket. If you get it direct from the team this is where the prices are. However, if you go onto a tickets website like razorgator.com you can find the tickets you want but the good ones start at about $135 Amreican. I payed $150 American a piece to see the Green Bay Packers at the San Francisco 49ers. I was a little lower than mid way up overall and on about the 40 yard line. Excelent seats. The sad thing is that those same seats through the 49ers website were only $75 American.

On to your second question. Yes, there are definitly hooligans and gangs between different teams. The most notorious are the rivalries between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers or the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. If you have ever seen Oakland fans, I'm sorry. They are quite scary. (Links to pics are in the sources box) I can understand their rivalry because the 2 cities are just separated by about a mile of water. Green Bay and Chicago have a fierce rivalry because they are some of the oldest teams in the league. I'm a Packers fan and I despist the Bears. It just sort of comes along naturally. Hope this helps.

How much would a ticket cost me for a top NFL game?nba scores ,nba teams

The price depends if you buy it through the ticket window or from a scalper. The face value for an average seat for a basic team would be around 50-70 US dollars. If it's a big game and you bought it from a scalper it would probably be a minimum of $200. As for fights, it depends which stadium you go to. Some you'll be fine wearing the opposing teams colors. Some you'll get some comments. You probably wouldn't see to many fights. Maybe if some people are drunk. As most you'd get yelled at and picked on, maybe some stuff thrown at you.

Does anyone think that Graham Harrell will have a good shot in NFL if he goes?

I know it won't be for a while but could he be one of the great quarterbacks?

Does anyone think that Graham Harrell will have a good shot in NFL if he goes?knicks

I dont think so, I hate to say it but he is a system QB. He has a spread 5 WR every play and that just cant work in the NFL. And the same with Crabtree, Unless both improve greatly, then i dont think they will be good in the NFL.

For example ill compare crabtree to larry fitzgerald when he was a freshman. Crabtree wasnt as dominate and wasnt as good of a route runner as Fitz was. Fitz was so good i remember a team putting 3 people on him. But i do have to admit that crabtree has good hands, but on the comparison, Fitzgerald was far more advanced and was a way better reciever than Crabtree is now.

As for Graham Harrell, The statistics show that he is a goodcollegeQB. But i mean he throws like 700 passes to do so (not sure if exact). when was the last QB to come out of T Tech and be a straight stud? I just think the system of that team will never put out a great QB.

Does anyone think that Graham Harrell will have a good shot in NFL if he goes?sports ,nba teams

nope graham harrell is the product of a system. where are all of the other TT qbs before him? where are all of the UF qbs who played in the Spurrier system? Where is Timmie Chang? Harrell is a cookie cutter like the rest of them. Like Colt Brennan.
No, Timmy Chang was the same type of player and he's in the CFL !!
The system tag is weird. I don't understand it. Is Ricky Williams a system rb because his school ran so much?

The problem with Tech and NFL qb success is that NFL-prototype quarterbacks have not been recruited to Texas Tech at this time. Size, speed, arm strength are what the NFL looks at first; pretty much you can tell a player who has a good chance of making it in the NFL before they ever even go to college.

What Tech does is give a kid who doesn't have the physical aspects enough training and practice and smarts, that the NFL WILL often take a chance on them.

Kliff Kingsbury hung around quite a while in the NFL. He was a three year starter in the Tech system. He was undersized and had less arm strength than the prototype NFL qb.

BJ Symons was undersized for the NFL, but was drafted. Injuries were his biggest problem in the NFL. BJ only had one year of truecollegeexperience.

Sonny Cumbie has size and a pretty good arm. Supposedly he's FREAKISHLY immobile, which is why he hasn't passed NFL muster. Again, he only had one year ofcollegeexperience.

Cody Hodges was way undersized for the NFL but was picked up as a free agent. Despite his size, the NFL gave him a look because of the Tech system. Again, only one year ofcollegeexperience.

Graham Harrell? He's still growing, but perhaps on the shorter side of acceptable height for the NFL. Harrell can make all the throws. He will have three years ofcollegeexperience, but due to physical limitations will need to get lucky and get the right situation for him to learn and mature.

Behind Harrell is Taylor Potts, a qb with prototype NFL size, speed and a big arm. If he is able to excel in the Tech system (not a sure thing right now) then he will be the first Tech qb that passes the NFL eye test AND has the training and smarts that playing for Tech provides.
i laugh at people who scream 'system qb' its really become cliche. EVERY successful QB is a SYSTEM QB. joe montana was the king of system QB's. troy aikman was a system QB. tom brady now is a system QB.

its hard to say with harrell the main element mostcollegeqb's lack is pin point accuracy. incollegea lot of mistake throws are still caught the level of db play is sooo far behind the nfl level db's. mostcollegeqbs complete about 7-10 passes at that level that would be defended or ints at the pro level. also the speed of the rush is so much faster the qb must make very fast decisions look at the sugar bowl colt brennan faced his first nfl level speed rushers and he got lit up like a pinball machine and had his worst game. he was not used to having to get rid of the ball as fast

When does Maurice Clarett get out of prison and where do you think he will resume his NFL career?

I think that wherever he goes, he will immediately start.

When does Maurice Clarett get out of prison and where do you think he will resume his NFL career?nba playoffs 2007

Well, come September, he will still have at least another year and a half in prison. So even if there was a team willing to give him a chance, 2 more seasons would pass before that could happen.

If the Vick thing never happened, I might say that Clarett would have a small chance of getting a tryout. In today's NFL, he has zero chance of getting a tryout.

He would probably get some tryouts on arena teams, or maybe even in Canada....but my best guess is that his football career is dead and his life full of dead end jobs will soon begin.

Also, I am hoping that is sarcasm about him starting immediately...it has to be.

maurice clarett will never play in the nfl. unless running backs with 5.0+ 40 yd times become the new trend.

clarrett was overated coming out of ohio st where he feasted on the same overrated living on their past glories defenses in the big 10 that made Ron Dayne a heisman trophy winner and nfl flop.

Who was the last big time nfl rb from the big 10?? mike alstott? chris perry? ki-jana carter? curtis enis? curt warner was probably the last and he played for penn st before they were in the Weak 10
men Johnny the Weak 10 is a shadow of their former self ohio st keeps proving that every time they play a good team from a bcs conference in a bowl game. and beating notre dame does not count.

One living in the past team beating another living in the past team does not count!!
He'll never play a down in the NFL. He is not only a troublemaker and a head case, but also managed to let himself go to the point where he couldn't make a team based on just his physical skills. He's done, look for him at an Arby's drive through near you.
He will never play in the NFL again, as if he did before. Have you seen how much weight this guy put on, he makes Jerome Bettis look a toothpick. If he ever did come back though there's only one team that fits him and that's Dallas. He's just a straight up thug.
he never made it to the NFL and he cant go back tocollegeso there is not NFL career to resume
He will never play in the NFL. He was given a chance eve after he caused a black cloud over the league. You may seem him in AFL2
He's done. He had a chance with the Broncos but he got cut. He's an idiot for leavingcollegeearly, trying to get in the draft.
The Huntsville Cowpies.
Never happen.
He'll go to the Cowboys of course.
He'll never play pro, orcollegefootball again.

hahaha!!!!
He'll never play in the NFL. He was never that good. He was slow and couldn't find his holes. Plus he is a headcase.
he will never play much less start for an nfl team.. this question has to be a joke
maybe he can start a team with Micheal Vick and Pacman Jones
He's too slow and doesn't have the work ethic to play in the NFL
he hasnt done crap in the nfl so why would he now dont be a moron dude ****

Why is the san francisco nfl team called the forty niners?

the san francisco team in the nfl is called the forty-niners.why is that?

Why is the san francisco nfl team called the forty niners?nba finals 2007

Due to the Gold Rush. The California Gold Rush took place in 1848-1849 and was the primary reason California was settled by Americans. San Francisco became the major outlet to the rest of the world. It was too timely to travel across land back to the east, so all commerce generated from the Gold Rush went through San Francisco, the biggest port city on the west coast. The term 49er essentially refers to the miners, explorers, and fortune hunters who came to California during this time.

Why is the san francisco nfl team called the forty niners?www.nba.com ,nba teams

That was a goldrush in 1849, not 1949....all the people that came to san fran for the goldrush were called 49ers....
It refers to the gold rush that happened in CA in 1849
Because they are located where th gold rush took place. The folks who panned for gold where known as 49ers
california had a gold rush in 1849 hence the term miner fourty niner. miners for gold were called 49er's
from the gold rush of 1849 in california. thats why they named them that. they probably couldnt think of anything else. san diego took chargers and oakland took the raiders but they should probably switch with oakland because the raiders have no luck finding their gold.
The Gold Rush that California had.
The San Fran gold rush in 1849.
The name was primarily an honorarium to the men who came to California in the years in and around 1849 (the largest number IN THE YEAR 1849) in search of gold during California's gold rush ---- and-- even though very few of them actually FOUND gold-- many thousands of them did stay in California and made lives there anyway---and it is still thought by many to this day that it was those that came for the gold rush and stayed to make lives there that gave the state it's true beginnings AS a state !!!

ALSO--there is the underlying meaning of the title --the fact that the team itself--at the heart of it's game -- is always in there--looking for "THE GOLD"
I think it goes back to the Californian gold rush which started in 1849, hence the miners being called the forty niners
the gold rush happened in 1849.
Because of the california gold rush

What does a Dime Back mean at NFL Football?

I would like to bet on NFL this season, so firstable I would like to knoe some terms.

What does a Dime Back mean at NFL Football?nba mvp

Dime Back

The second extra, or sixth total, defensive back. Named because a dime has the same value as two nickels.

What does a Dime Back mean at NFL Football?nba trades ,nba teams

when there are 3 defensive back's on the field it is a formation commonly refered to as Nickel form (3 db's + 2 safeties). the dime back is the 4th db in any formation. the term dime comes from the fact that he is another db, so if the 3rd is the nickel, two nickels equal a dime.
it means ur playing the run

Should the rams draft a quaterback in this coming years nfl draft and if so who should they draft?

i think if they do they should draft matt ryan out of boston college.

Should the rams draft a quaterback in this coming years nfl draft and if so who should they draft?nba free agents

I like the pick of Jake Long, they obviously need help on the O Line. Pace goes down, and the team goes in the tank. Maybe they could trade up from their second round pick to a mid first rounder to grab someone like Andre Woodson, Matt Ryan or any of the premier QBs that fall. DeSean Jackson could be a great late first round steal to replace their aging WRs. Let's not jump the gun calling Marc Bulger "great." He inherited a system/team that made Kurt Warner and Trent Green put up MVP numbers. There is a lot of good value at QB this year. Never too soon to start grooming the QB of the future. By the way, no way Henne goes in the second. After the train wreck season he's put together he'll be lucky to go in the 3rd. The Wolverine QB had his worst season as a senior.

Should the rams draft a quaterback in this coming years nfl draft and if so who should they draft?nba logo ,nba teams

if they plan on going with the pass heavey offense some more again-they should get colt brennan in the 2nd or 3rd. otherwise they are good at QB-just not healthy nor is the oline healthy.
I agree with Tru Blue. They will not draft a QB in the first round. Nor will they draft one in the first 5 rounds because they already have a great QB - they just need better protection for him and that's what they'll be drafting - along with defense of course.
not in thr first round they wont get a QB

they'll get the left tackle Jake Long as 2nd overall pick

in second round they might pick up Henne or Woodson
As already mentioned by Tru Blue, not in the first or even second round, in my opinion.
I think they should go out and pick Brian Brohm out of Louisville in the first round.

Anyone else tired of the NFL Network, and its programming?

For some reason during the regular season, and toward the beginning of the regular season the programming seems to be especially bad. They have dumb shows like Dolphins Cheerleaders making the squad, Cheerleader playoffs, or Cheerleader lives. I know there are guys that love cheerleaders but seriously! Does anyone really need to watch 10 one hour specials about Cheerleaders playing games. Examples: A cheerleader gets in an amusement park pool, and gets on a float device and goes around cones 5 times. I admit I love watching NFL Gridiron challenge, and re-runs of previous pro-bowls(QB's). BUT WHY can't NFL Network think of something else to fill the time. Are men really interested on how the girls got on the team, girls crying when they don't make it, or the rest of that crap. Can't they fill it with player interviews, re-runs of pro-bowl skill challenges, NFL presents, ect. C'MON!

They play meaningless repeats of playoff games from 2 years ago or highlights of some team's training camp.

They need to really do a better job of programming. If they want to show old stuff, do bios of football greats like Butkus, Sayers, Starr, etc etc.

They also need better up to date programs like that NFL show on HBO. I know they have the money, but as of right now, I give them a grade D.

The Pats got a good LB from the VOLS and they got an additional 3rd round in the process. I think they did pretty well with that.

Some people wonder about their late round pick of a qb but i actually think that might make sense, because cassel might not be the best backup for brady and if they can get Guteriz(sp) as number 2 and this kid at number 3 they might be better off.

They got a late round corner who might work out as a backup down the road, and a late round reciever that might get some work on special teams. They also picked up another late round special teamer.

I look at the Pats at this point compared to last season:

1. QB - Same brady obviously but they might get better backups.

2. RBs - Better because Morris is back with maroney and him as a two back combo.

3. Recievers - Still pretty good. Losing stallworth to me isnt as big of a deal because Gaffney came on later in the year.

4. OL - About the same and they were good up till the superbowl when they couldn't get it together.

5. DLine - they look about the same, their pretty good here.

6. LB's - They have improved here a bit. They could end up with colvin back, but at this point i dont think they need him.

7. Secondary - They should be about the same this year. They lost samuel, and thats not good but they gained some other players and got a good coach for the secondary in capers.

8. Special Teams - I think they have made huge improvements here.

The Pats should have another big year. THis time they should WIN the superbowl. I am not predicting undefeated again, but looking at their schedule, its hard to see them losing more than one or two games.
I like the picks that Denver made. Especially in the first 2 rounds. Ryan Clady is a beast and should be a great pro. Damn....now he's playing for my Broncos, I should have had him sign something when he was playing at BSU for the last few years....LOL

Denver addressed a lot of needs in this draft. Hopefully Clady will hit the ground running, and Eddie Royal can add a spark to the return game.
the steelers had the best draft fo sho. mendenhall was one of the best backs in the draft, sweed was one of the best receivers, and dixon is just a great all around athlete that the steelers will probly turn into a slot or flank receiver like they did with randel-el and ward. im callin steelers vs. cowboys superbowl just like the good old days
Seahawks got exactly what they needed in the draft, and all of their picks will get significant playing time this year except the 7th rounders.

They filled their needs at DT, DE, FB, LS, TE. That was big for them, and they are ready for another run at the Superbowl this year. Win one for the Walrus!
im a little bit surprised that the bucs took a cornerback instead of a wide receiver, but after hearing jon gruden's thoughts, i can understand why they chose talib from kansas
i would have liedk if we used it on our 1st pick on thomas ( PHILADELPHIA EAGLES)
I love my picks, dont think we were the strongest but i dont think we hurt ourselves in any way.. probably helped.. go cowboys!!
Ehh the Bears did ok, but we still didnt address out need at QB. But did bulk up our offensive line. The cheifs or Cowboys did the best
Im a pats fan and I think we did pretty good....bill got what we needed to help the team and i honestly don't doubt any desicion that he makes at all. Hell teach the newbies well
i would give the jets a B-
B or B+. I'd have said A if we didn't draft Colt ******* Brennan.
My NY Jets had an awsome draft, I wouldn't change a thing.

Dallas Cowboys, OK Sooners, Florida Gators, and the Yankees are great contenders for that title.

Which team has the most annoying fans in the NFL? How aboutcollegefootball?nba mock drafts ,nba teams

Any bandwagon fan is the most annoying. They try to talk like they know all about the team but don't really know anything.
thats hard to say... recently its been Pats fans, they are really annoying. Eagle fans are a close 2nd.

oh i would say USC fans especially that one kid on yahoo answers that always answers with a "go usc" thing hate that kid.
In the NFL, it has to be the chargers fans. There's always an excuse. After the playoff loss to the patriots last year, most fans blamed it on Marty. Thus far in the season, I'm pretty sure he wasn't the problem. he wasn't the one out there dropping punts and committing personal fouls that gave the offense 1st downs on failed 3rd down conversions that lead to touchdowns. This year everything is being put on Phillip Rivers and Norv Turner.

In the NCAA, USC by far. They think they've got the best damn team of all time every single year. What do you know, the past 10 times they think their team is the greatest, they've only finished 1st twice. Notre Dame fans are pretty bad too. Thinking they deserve a BCS bid every single year. Their rebute to any argument is that they are "God's school." ha
Fletch is right: The Spytriots and Trojans.
Eagles
Dallas and Michigan.
In the NFL it is a toss up between the saints fans and the cheeseheads of green bay. In thecollegeranks USC has the worst, most obnoxious fans.
any bandwagon team has the most annoying fans (cowboys, pats, USC etc). they are the ones who post stupid questions and answers all day and they dont know much about football...

roger: Eagles fans arent annoying, they are PASSIONATE!!!
Pats and USC.
Raiders.......and they are mean!!

USC....I'm a fan and they still annoy me.
NFL - Minnesota Vikings. Any fans that wear blonde pig tails and horns on their heads need help. Also, they cheer to that stupid ricolla horn. They scream the loudest when their team wins and all leave at the end of the 3rd quarter if they are losing.

NCAA - Michigan by far. Arrogant, annoying. They only know two words at a time - Go Blue or Hail, Hail.
In the NFL I would have to say the Bills. Living here in upstate NY(62 miles) away from buffalo the fans hide when the team is losing. They don't say anything about their team and they talk stupid smack about other teams. Yes I know there are probably lots of others all over like this but I am soooooo glad that the cowboys beat the Bills Monday night. If it went the other way around every Bills fan would have been wearing their Bills hat's and shirts everywhere.

For College I would have to say USC.
